Endocrinology Medical Assistant Certification

What is Endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the medical study of hormone systems and the treatment of diseases caused by problems with hormones and the organs that control them. Endocrinologists treat an important range of issues concerning the human body's development, growth and metabolism, as well as psychological and behavioral issues that relate to the way our bodies develop. From sleep and moods to digestion and reproduction--hormones control crucial aspects of what it means to be healthy and alive.

What are some of the services Endocrinologist provide?

Endocrinologists diagnose and treat hormone imbalance issues related mostly to glandular problems in the endocrine system. This primarily concerns gland hypersecretion/hyposecretion: When glands produce too much or too little of the hormone they create. Examples include adrenal disorders, diabetes and thyroid conditions. Gland tumors are often found during treatment of the disorders and diseases, whether cancerous or benign, these tumors cause problems with hormones and their correct balance in the body.
